Default Cheap serpintine setup..........

Serpentine is where its at on any motor......the main reason I went with it was tired of throwing v-belts on my car and I saw some serious damage to a 65 Tempest belonging to a friend of mine......I scored all my components for $60 at a local junkyard off of a 89 V6 S-10 Blazer thats pulleys, pumps, a/c, and fan......sandblasted, etching primer, and painted.........heres how my application turned out.........my motor is a 72 400 sbc that is now a 406.....

Its a 72 40o bored .30 over now a 406, stock heads with a Edelbrock Performer intake/ .488/.510 cam with 1407 carb on top.....added the serpentine system. scored a 88 Vette 700r4 for the overdrive and easy rpm at cruise and the Power Tour......I threw the driveshaft 3 weeks ago and Im working on repairing that problem. I installed a console out of a Cutlass with B&M Magnum pistol grip shifter(took 3 bad ones to make a good one), installed a new headliner, installed a leather interior out of a 91-93 Buick LeSabre used to passenger seats up front to get the console/bucket seat look and the back seat fit like glove and has armrest and headrests in the back....installed a new black GN carpet and ran a dual exhaust through an Iceman crossmember.......i have a Quick Perfomance 9" housing but havent scored any axles or center section yet.....and recently lowered the front end by 1 3/4" and Im debating about whether to put on a F-body 36mm front swaybar....

Did you grab the reverse rotation water pump off the Blazer or buy new?

Im glad you brought that up.......I bought a new one because they are pretty cheap especially if buy online then pickup in store from Advance Auto....I had a friend that worked at Autozone and had told me there was a heavy duty reverse flow pump for the Blazer which was a Blazer with tow package that flowed more than a regular 6 cylinder......some say hipo 6 S-10 trucks used a better flow water but I never confirmed that.....yes a serpentine has to have a reverse flow water pump.....and I found out hard way and its a common sense thing but my wife said I didnt have any common sense at that time......

I just priced the serpintine setup at a wrecking yard, and they wanted 275 dollars far it. So you got a great buy. I want one for my 87 Camino, do any of the serpintine setups have a air pump with them?

Thanks

The only thing I knew that had air pumps where the Oldsmobiles....I will have to resaerch it more.....but Summit shows sepentine gatorback belt for air pump on 88-93 2.8 & 3.1 V-6 that were California emission GM cars.....maybe some of our West Coast guys can weigh in on these types of set ups or lets if the see them in their local salvage yards.....

Yes I have seen plenty of the v8 setups with air pumps. Just to set the record straight the water pumps are NOT reverse flow they are reverse rotation there is a difference and both are available.
