Hey everyone I was looking at an aluminum block to drop in, but they are so damn expensive!!!! I was wondering if anyone knew if GM ever put out a aluminum block for these cars, and maybe I might luck up in a junkyard or something. Thanks!!!

IMO, your chances of finding an aluminum gen.I bow tie block in a juck yard is slim to none! I think you'd have a better chance finding an aluminum LS series engine. Be prepared to spend a good chunk of change on any aluminum engine (IMO).

5.7 LS motors have aluminum blocks. I've seem them sell complete for about 1k.

Find a local late model roundy round racer selling their old motor. That's how I got my 434 (tall deck bow tie block), and I stoled it $2000.00 intake to pan. But that was 20yrs ago. lol

Alright, cool thanks guys I will have to see if I can locate one. I was looking online, and seen that a short block only weighed like 90lbs, and was like HELL yeah that would be awesome as far as the light weight and stuff!!:woott:
