Hey guys! new to the G-body world and have a 81 Malibu wagon with a v6. Going to put in a V-8 if I decide to go with a standard small block what has to be done and where can i find the parts to do so. I have been in F-bodies my whole life so this is pretty new! Thanks OH and I dont need to know about emissions.... Thanks!

im doin the same thang you are.. went from a 3.8 to a sbc 355.. well you pretty much need to change it all.. your gonna need the motor mounts for a sbc both frame mount and clam shells.... gonna need a v8 radiator along with fan shroud.. gonna need all the brackets for the sbc and accessories aswell.. i had a metric 200 trans so i also change to a th350.. so in short when you go to buy a motor make sure it is complete not just a long block. in the end it will save you money and time tracking it all down later.. when i bought my motor i got everything with it from rad, motor mounts and shroud and for brackets and pullies i just went with aftermarket.. hope this helps

Thanks! Is there a place that sponsors the site or something where I could get the mounts? I have a stroker motor from an old project I may use. and I have the radiator already also, how about trans crossmember? this has the 200 also so I too will be using a th350. I have head we have to use a double hump crossmember for dual exhaust? are these common crossmembers or a needle in a haystack?

as far as motor mounts they dont have to be from a g body, they just have to be a chevy v8 motor mount.. can be from a g body,a body, f body etc. i just got them from the junkyard. as for a cross member they are pretty common for the 350... if you want a double hump woody is right ice man has one, opg, summit, jegs, pretty much all the popular sites due..

SO just waiting on my friend to bring the cherry picker over and the lame-o v6 will be on the floor! Now my question is.....I have been told I cannot run a tall valve cover with the stock A/C box still under the hood. I'm fine with getting rid of that since I will not be running a/c. however I need to get the a/c delete box. any ideas where to obtain one of those and not have to re-mortgage the house? I will get you guys some pics soon!

Why not just get a a/c delete panel, they can be had for 70 bux tops

Thats an option for sure, But I was kind of hoping to be able to run a fan and such. since we are in michigan sometimes the evenings or early mornings I need the defrost.

I have been scowering Ebay, C-list, not many swap meets in the area, any of the bone yards around here have crushed these gems long ago, the wonderful part of michigan is the road salt....so they rot away! MAYBE i could get some of my west coast friends **hint hint** to check around them for one that would fit a 82 malibu wagon?????

I have no idea if it will fit but I would be surprised if it didn't. Not much changed on the major parts of the body from 78 to 87. It was mostly small stuff.

They do have to be relocated. This is the only picture I have from my Elky that shows where they should go. Hope it helps.

I did a search on here and found where someone was doing the same thing I'm and was able to do it all from the engine bay.take out the inner fender and was able to make it happen. I'm going to try that first. If no i may just get the BFH mod :cool2:

Well the A/c stuff is out and there is a masive hole in the firewall! this was pretty easy and you DO NOT have to take the dash out. simply take the inner fender out and its fairly simple after that!. Im trying to get pics to load but not much luck. NOW if anyone wants to put A/C in their car let me know I want to see the whole set up. and I will sell it for a fair price. not wanting to get rich off fellow hot rodders! shoot me an offer if you want it!
