Hello all, it's been awhile since I posted thought I would share what I have been up too.
After driving my el camino for about a year I was really impressed with the power but have decided since to do a cam/ converter change. As well as fixing an annoying piston slap that the motor has had since new. My old specs before were stock vortecs with beehive springs/retainers etc. xe268 cam with hyper pistons forged rods cast steel crank etc. Topped with a performer rpm intake and a 600 cfm edelbrock. It destroyed the stock th350 so I bought a rebuilt one that the local trans shop said would handle 400 hp, I also got a 1800 stall. Well 3 months later the trans was slipping so not wanting to deal local I went to Richmond va about an hour away to get a BUILT th350 from http://www.doctorspeedstransmissions.com/turbo-350-transmissions.html. It's a great piece. Spent 725 bucks told him I was in college gave me a hell of a deal with the trans and a 2800 stall. So along with the 2800 stall I bought a xe274 cam. I went to work on tearing out the old... And now time for some pics...

So after pulling the motor I went to the machine shop and told them to check out the slap. I didn't tear down the motor because I'm tired of working on this thing haha So I just took it down to the short block. I get a call a couple days later saying to come in and check out what they found... and it wasn't good. We found the piston slap, about 3 months ago the slap was getting worse and I drove it for about 150 miles with this loud knock that I knew was the piston but didn't know it was this

Cracked my block as well, and found out what I thought was a blown head gasket with milky oil.

But luckily I had a few 350s laying around so I tore one down and sent it out to the machine shop... Deff a step back but oh well! I'll have it done about late june early july as I'll be heading out to my home state of Idaho here next week for about two weeks.
