Great find.....you can buy rear frame rails and fix the frame you have,....I have seen frames recently though for $200 in the Buffalo area on craigslist. Either way, that 'Bu is worth saving...keep us posted:)

I have a hard time finding, and getting parts where I live, there are less than a million people in a ten hour radius. The Canadian dollar is weak right now, and we don't get free shipping, so it costs me double to get anything you get (if I can get it at all) There are so many frustrating things about building a project in rural East coast Canada, Free trade my ASS

Thanks, my sister lives in Woodstock, so when she comes to visit, she could save me the shipping.

I still find a few Malibu's in the wreckers out this way, and try to buy ones that have been sitting and/or are rusty for part outs. I've still got a fair bit of parts kicking around here so if there's something you need or are having trouble finding let me know, I may be able to help out.

They don't seem to match the numbers on the link, I also tried a Google search and got nothing.Could it be another gm brand engine?
These numbers are NOT my forte (I'm probably wrong), but:
K= GM of Canada, 02= month of Feb., 27= day of month, D8A= I couldn't find that code, but, D6A= 305 V-8, 150 horsepower, 8.6 compression ratio, 4BL carb., LG4.
1= Chevrolet, B= 1981, 1= assembly plant (Canada?), 457713= sequence number.

That would seem to match up, except I have a 2 barrel, but that could have been changed at some point.

thanks a lot

I just found that D8A is a 267 120 hp with a a Roch E2ME carb, you may have been wrong, but I wouldn't have found the answer without your help.

I just found a mint 81 Malibu chassis, no rust, no damage But the guy wants 1200$ for it. I'm hoping he will take an old Neufield tractor I have as trade, it's probably worth more (and I think the price is to high to begin with) but it will save me a lot of headaches..this is the only listing for anything Malibu in the entire Province.http://www.kijiji.ca/v-classic-cars/fredericton/frame/1111955011

It does look to be in pretty nice shape...I'd say yes the prices is very high. I sold a rolling El Camino frame that I had repaired, freshly sandblasted and painted, with a 3:08 posi rear about 4 years ago for $600.

But out there it may very well be supply and demand. If we were alot closer I'm sure I could find you one for a couple hundred dollars.
